Guo Jiaxuan Dies After Training Injury in Spain

Chinese footballer Guo Jiaxuan has died a day before his 19th birthday following a head injury sustained during a training match in Spain, his club confirmed Thursday.
Guo, a youth international, fell into a coma last month after an accident during a match between Beijing’s U-20 team and Spanish side RC Alcobendas in Madrid.
He was declared brain dead by a local hospital before being transferred to Beijing, where he died Wednesday evening.
His family accused the Beijing Football Association of withholding information about the incident and failing to communicate with them.
Beijing Guoan, where Guo played for the U-19 squad, vowed to support his family and handle the aftermath.
The Beijing FA stated it withheld details to prevent interference with medical care but now has video footage under expert review.
Guo, previously part of the FC Bayern World Squad, was also selected for China’s U-17 team in 2023.
His death has sparked widespread condolences on social media, mourning the loss of a promising young talent.
