MANILA, Philippines — Federal Express Corporation announced Tuesday the groundbreaking of its expanded Clark gateway facility to boost the country’s role as a major regional shipping hub and improve global market connectivity.
The upgraded express transportation facility will measure more than 78,000 square meters upon completion to provide better shipment flow reliability and service flexibility.
This larger hub will improve the network resilience of the company while specifically enhancing its capacity to manage express, freight, and e-commerce shipments during a period of rising regional cross-border trade.
The expansion aligns with a broader corporate strategy focused on enhancing customer service experiences, securing network reliability, and positioning the logistics giant for long-term growth throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
National government officials attended the event to emphasize how vital logistics infrastructure is to bolstering economic growth, investment, and trade.
Finance Secretary Frederick Go stated that the project would deepen global connectivity, allow domestic firms to reach more markets, and help the country leverage regional economic momentum.
Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque also attended the ceremony alongside senior executives from the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, the Luzon International Premiere Airport Development, the Clark Development Corporation, and Robinsons Land Corporation.
FedEx North and South Pacific President Masamichi Ujiie noted that the upgraded operational capabilities will better support local businesses and enable more efficient cross-border trade.
This project follows the initial launch of the Clark gateway in October 2021 and a subsequent land lease agreement signed with the Luzon International Premiere Airport Development in July 2024.
Robinsons Land Corporation will serve as the developer for the construction phase, which is scheduled to begin during the second quarter of 2026.
The new design incorporates eco-friendly elements like insulated building materials, high-performance roofing, energy-efficient glazing, skylights, and LED lighting to lower environmental impacts and boost energy efficiency.
The facility will also feature water-efficient fixtures, a rainwater harvesting system, power-optimization equipment, electric vehicle charging stations, and infrastructure ready for future solar power deployment.
A commemorative photograph captured the gathering of company leaders, government dignitaries, and key stakeholders standing together at the groundbreaking site.
