Tailscale and Zyxel Declare War on Confusing VPNs, Offer Free Peace Treaty to SMBs

Zyxel Networks has partnered with Tailscale to integrate the latter’s WireGuard-based mesh VPN into its USG FLEX H Series firewalls at no additional cost, because apparently, making things easier is now in vogue.

The new feature, available on devices running uOS v1.32 or later, lets users bypass the usual soul-crushing VPN setup with a few effortless clicks.

Users can now enjoy remote access without touching server configs or port forwarding, because who has time to read manuals anymore?

Tailscale’s peer-to-peer encrypted tunnels eliminate the need for central servers, making networks faster, leaner, and less frustrating to scale—almost like VPN magic.

The service spans all major platforms, from Windows and macOS to iOS, Android, Linux, and even those weird embedded devices no one likes to talk about.

Zyxel’s firewall users can log in using their existing identity providers, making security sound as easy as logging into Netflix.

Multi-Factor Authentication is also supported, for those who enjoy an extra step that actually makes sense.

To sweeten the deal, Zyxel is giving eligible customers free access to Tailscale’s Starter Plan, because security is suddenly generous too.

Apparently, this is how VPNs should’ve worked all along—minus the hair-pulling.
