In celebration of Cyber Security Awareness Month this October, global cybersecurity firm NCC Group has reaffirmed its commitment to developing cybersecurity professionals in the Philippines.
Recent data from NCC Group’s Threat Pulse indicates a staggering 13.5 percent increase in ransomware incidents worldwide over the past year.
Kevin Brown, Global COO of NCC Group, emphasized the growing sophistication of cyber threats and the urgent need to innovate talent development strategies in the Philippines.
Despite these challenges, Brown praised the Philippines for its significant advancements in cybersecurity, as reflected in its United Nations Global Cybersecurity Index score, which rose from 77 points in 2020 to 93.49 this year.
This improvement has elevated the nation to Tier 2 status, showcasing its developing cybersecurity capabilities.
The Philippine government’s National Cybersecurity Plan, endorsed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., aims to create a secure digital environment amid rising e-commerce activities.
NCC Group’s Manila office has rapidly expanded, now employing over 120 cybersecurity experts and anticipating further growth by year-end.
To enhance local talent, NCC Group has initiated seminars at various universities in Metro Manila, reinforcing its commitment to addressing the sector’s skills shortage.
