TAP and MPower: A Decade of Renewable Energy Commitment

Toyota Aisin Philippines Inc. (TAP) has renewed its partnership with MPower, the local retail electricity unit of Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco), as part of the manufacturer’s continuing pursuit to achieve efficiency and sustainability in its operations.
The renewal of their retail electricity supply agreement, which reinforces a successful collaboration spanning over a decade, ensures that TAP will continue to benefit from MPower’s reliable and cost effective energy solutions tailored to the requirements of the manufacturer’s plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
As the first manual transmission manufacturing plant outside Japan under Toyota Motor Corporation, TAP plays a vital role in the global automotive supply chain. With 95% of its drivetrain components exported to Toyota plants and affiliates worldwide, uninterrupted and efficient energy supply is crucial to maintaining its high production standards.
“At TAP, we continuously seek partners who not only share our values but can also actively contribute to advancing our operational excellence and sustainability goals. Their dedication to supporting our environmental objectives has been instrumental in maintaining the efficiency and sustainability of our operations,” Toyota Aisin Philippines Acting General Manager Allan Cantal said.
Since 2013, TAP has relied on MPower to supply its electricity needs—a partnership that played a key role in TAP’s transition to 100% renewable energy in December 2019. This milestone aligns with Toyota’s global sustainability and carbon neutrality goals, further strengthening TAP’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
“We are honored to continue our partnership with Toyota Aisin Philippines, a company that shares our vision for sustainability and innovation,” Meralco First Vice President and Head of MPower Redel Domingo said.
