8 Ways Citi Philippines Volunteers Made an Impact on Global Community Day’s 20th Year

Citi Philippines marked two decades of Global Community Day by mobilizing more than 2,000 volunteers across 15 impactful activities in June.
With seven partner organizations on board, employees, friends, and families turned their energy into meaningful service.
Here are eight ways they made a difference this year.
1. Classrooms Got a Fresh Start
Volunteers repainted classrooms and cleaned school grounds at Longos Elementary School in Malabon, directly benefiting 1,300 students. Over 2,200 learners at CAA School in Las Piñas also had classrooms prepared for the new school year.
2. Coastal Clean-Ups Tackled Waste
Two separate drives in Baseco yielded impressive results. Volunteers collected 100 sacks of garbage that impacted 30,000 households, while another team gathered 99 kilos of recyclables to help restore the coastal area.
3. Homeless Youth Found Mentors and Friends
In Pandacan, Manila, Citi volunteers spent weekends with children in shelters. They painted shirts and canvas bags, shared art, and revived classic Filipino games like tumbang preso and sipa, creating joy for nearly 400 children.
4. Teachers Learned New Digital Skills
Education extended beyond classrooms as 65 teachers received virtual mentorship in Microsoft Excel, equipping them with practical skills for everyday work.
5. Meals and Stories Filled Communities with Hope
From preparing 500 meals at SOS Rescue Kitchen to hosting feeding programs and storytelling at Gawad Kalinga villages in Caloocan, Citi’s volunteers served more than 800 children and residents.
6. Thousands of Kits Packed for Families
At the GMA Kapuso Foundation, 1,800 school supply bags and over 800 hygiene kits were assembled. ChildHope Philippines also received 51 boxes filled with essentials for children in need.
7. Animal Welfare Groups Got a Boost
Compassion extended to animals too. Volunteers donated 25 boxes of pet food and supplies to PAWS, plus 9 sacks and 17 boxes of goods to CARA Welfare Philippines for rescued animals.
8. A Legacy of Service Reaffirmed
For Citi Philippines CEO Paul Favila, the massive turnout reflected the company’s commitment to its communities. He thanked volunteers for their time and generosity, calling Global Community Day a tradition that will continue to grow.
Two decades of Global Community Day show how volunteerism can create ripples of change. From students and teachers to families and animals, Citi’s efforts prove that small acts of kindness—when done together—build a stronger and more compassionate nation.
