The manhunt continues for the gunman who fatally shot conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University.
Kirk, 31, was struck in the neck on Wednesday while addressing supporters at the start of his “American Comeback Tour.” Witnesses described panic as the crowd scrambled for cover. Authorities say the shooter, believed to be college-aged and dressed in black, fired from a rooftop before fleeing into a nearby neighborhood. A high-powered bolt-action rifle was later recovered.
President Donald Trump, a longtime ally, confirmed the news on Truth Social, calling Kirk “legendary” and “loved by all.” FBI officials are treating the incident as a “targeted political assassination.”
The shooting has sparked widespread reaction across political and online circles. Commentator Andrew Tate warned that Kirk’s killing could be part of a wider campaign against conservative figures, while lawmakers like Rep. Anna Paulina Luna urged social media companies to remove graphic videos of the incident.
Utah Valley University remains closed as investigators analyze surveillance footage, palm prints, and other evidence. Authorities are urging the public to submit any tips that could lead to the suspect.
