  • What TransUnion Q2 2026 study reveals about shifting Pinoy spending habits

What TransUnion Q2 2026 study reveals about shifting Pinoy spending habits

Filipino consumers remain broadly optimistic about their financial future, but rising living costs are increasingly reshaping how households spend, save and borrow. The Q2 2026 Consumer Pulse Study by TransUnion shows that while the majority continue to expect their household finances to improve in the coming year, confidence is being tempered by inflation and ongoing uncertainty surrounding the broader economic environment.

Optimism Broadly Holds, but Affordability Pressures Keep Households Cautious

Household income was broadly stable this quarter. While slightly below the 41% seen in Q2 2025, more than one-third (38%) of consumers still reported an income increase over the past three months. Meanwhile, 43% saw no change and only 19% experienced a decline, suggesting that although momentum has eased, overall, the majority of households are not slipping backward. Looking ahead, expectations for earnings remain strong, with 74% anticipating income growth over the next 12 months – more than the 73% recorded a year ago. This resilience continues to underpin a positive financial outlook, as 74% of consumers expressed optimism about their household finances in the year ahead.

Despite this optimism, signs of financial strain persist. Inflation remains the top concern, cited by 84% of consumers in their top three biggest worries affecting household finances in the next six months, and will likely persist as the pass-through effects of the oil price shock materialize. Other key pressures on household finances include job security (54%) alongside recession and interest rates (both at 44%). While data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) show inflation easing from 7.2% in April to 6.8% in May 2026, the May rate remains among the highest for that month since 20211. Affordability pressures are evident, with TransUnion’s research showing nearly half of consumers (45%) expecting to be unable to fully pay at least one of their current bills or loans, slightly up from 44% in Q2 2025.

“Filipino households are entering the second half of the year optimistic but clear-eyed. They expect their incomes to stay resilient, which keeps confidence broadly intact – yet they feel the weight of inflation on everyday costs, such as rice prices, and uncertainty over upcoming financial commitments amid broader global economic headwinds,” said Weihan Sun, senior director of research and consulting for Asia Pacific at TransUnion.

Spending and Saving Grow More Cautious, with Rising Reliance on Credit

In the face of persistent inflation and rising living costs, households are responding with deliberate caution – prioritizing essential spending and actively adjusting budgets amid ongoing cost pressures. Over half (55%) of consumers reported reducing discretionary spending like dining out, travel and entertainment in the last three months, up from 47% in Q2 2025. At the same time, they reported strengthening financial safety nets: 49% added to their emergency savings, up from 45%, while fewer (8%) drew on retirement funds, down from 12% a year ago.

As part of this shift, consumers are also balancing financial resilience with a growing reliance on credit. Reported use of available credit in the last three months rose to 17% from 15% last year, and looking ahead, 51% expect their bills and loan payments to increase over the next three months, slightly more than 49% in Q2 2025.

“Across these behaviors – from trimming discretionary spending to building savings while leaning on credit more selectively – what stands out is how intentional these choices are. Filipino households are not simply responding to pressure, but prioritizing what matters and being deliberate with every peso, using credit with intention to smooth day-to-day cash flow and bridge spending gaps. This shift toward more active financial management is an encouraging sign of growing financial maturity,” added Sun.

Credit Demand Stays Strong, but Cost and Eligibility Barriers Stall Follow-Through

As reliance on credit increases, it remains central to how Filipinos achieve their financial goals: more than half (58%) see access to credit and lending products as extremely or very important, unchanged from Q2 2025. At the same time, accessibility remains steady, with 44% reporting sufficient access – which is also consistent with a year ago – although almost one-quarter (24%) disagree.

Credit appetite stayed high, with nearly half (48%) of Filipino consumers planning to apply for new credit or refinance existing credit in the next year. Among those who said they would apply, growth is driven by everyday products such as personal loans, rising from 45% in Q2 2025 to 52%, and credit cards, increasing from 31% to 35%. In contrast, demand for mortgages softened to 12% from 17% a year earlier.

Despite robust interest in credit, many consumers continue to encounter obstacles along the borrowing journey. Three in five (60%) of those who considered credit applications abandoned their plans, up from 57% a year ago. The primary reason for abandoning applications was the cost being too high (35%), followed by finding an alternative funding source (32%) and income or employment status (28%).

“More Filipinos are turning to credit for the flexibility it offers, especially in uncertain times. However, when six in ten of those who considered borrowing walk away from a credit application, the issue is more friction than intent. The opportunity for lenders is to make credit more inclusive, so responsible borrowers are not lost to cost, complexity or eligibility barriers, while consumers can play their part by maintaining healthy credit habits. That is how we turn credit access into lasting financial resilience,” said Sun.

TransUnion’s Consumer Pulse Study surveyed 961 adults from April 29 to May 19, 2026. This quarterly survey examines shifting consumer attitudes and behaviors based on the dynamics of income, debt, and identity theft. Respondents ranged from Gen Z, 18-29 years old; Millennials, 30-45; Gen X, 46-61; and Baby Boomers, age 62 and above. By capturing insights across generations and financial situations, the study helps promote greater financial inclusion by informing policies, products and education efforts that meet the evolving needs of all consumers.

  • How ECOMEX 2026 aims to strengthen Philippine e-commerce through learning and collaboration

How ECOMEX 2026 aims to strengthen Philippine e-commerce through learning and collaboration

The future of entrepreneurship belongs to those who are willing to learn, adapt and embrace change.

That was the shared message from business leaders, digital entrepreneurs and industry experts during the July 9 Media and Ecosystem Launch of E-Commerce Expo Philippines (ECOMEX) 2026, where they encouraged Filipino entrepreneurs to see e-commerce not simply as another sales channel but as an opportunity to build stronger brands, reach more customers and create sustainable businesses.

Powered by PHILSME and organized by MediaTrix Solutions Inc., ECOMEX is the Philippines’ biggest expo, conference, and networking event for entrepreneurs, online sellers, and digital innovators. Scheduled on November 20–21, 2026 at SMX Convention Center Aura, Taguig, the event aims to bring together the people, ideas and opportunities that can help entrepreneurs thrive in an increasingly digital world.

More than 40 international, regional and local media organizations participated in the virtual launch through Zoom and the ECOMEX and PHILSME social media livestreams, where speakers shared practical insights on entrepreneurship, branding, digital transformation and the value of belonging to a supportive business community.

Entrepreneur, author and financial educator Coach Chinkee Tan opened a conversation that resonated with aspiring and established entrepreneurs alike, reminding business owners that every successful digital business begins with a single step.

    “Everybody starts with one follower.”

Tan encouraged entrepreneurs not to be intimidated by technology or the size of established brands, emphasizing that success in the digital economy comes from consistently creating value, earning trust and continuously improving.

“People buy brands. They don’t only buy products.”

He said today’s entrepreneurs have unprecedented opportunities to reach customers through digital platforms, but long-term success depends on investing in learning, building credibility and adapting to changing consumer behavior. He also encouraged business owners to participate in industry events where they can learn from experienced practitioners, exchange ideas and develop relationships that help businesses grow.

For Reymond “Boss RDR” Delos Santos, one of the country’s leading digital entrepreneurs and content strategists, the launch represented something much bigger than another business event.

“ECOMEX is not just an expo. For me, ECOMEX is a movement where we recognize and celebrate the people building Philippine e-commerce.”

Delos Santos said thousands of Filipino entrepreneurs have transformed their lives by embracing digital entrepreneurship and using online platforms to grow businesses that create jobs, strengthen communities and inspire others to pursue their own entrepreneurial journeys.

He added that ECOMEX provides aspiring entrepreneurs with opportunities to learn directly from experienced business owners, discover new technologies and become part of a growing community committed to helping one another succeed.

Launching the initiative, Trixie Esguerra-Abrenilla, Founder and Organizer of ECOMEX and CEO and Managing Director of the Philippine SME Business Expo (PHILSME), said the platform was created to help entrepreneurs navigate the increasingly complex realities of building successful businesses in the digital age.

“Philippine e-commerce success depends on execution across the entire customer journey. The challenge is no longer simply how to sell online, but how to acquire, convert, fulfill and retain customers. These are exactly the kinds of questions ECOMEX is built to address.”

She said ECOMEX was designed to bring together the experts, technologies, mentors, service providers and business communities that entrepreneurs need throughout every stage of their business journey—from launching an online store to building sustainable brands and long-term customer relationships.

Supporting the initiative, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) E-Commerce Bureau Director Eryl Royce Nagtalon, in a recorded keynote message, emphasized the importance of collaboration in strengthening the country’s digital economy and creating a trusted online marketplace where entrepreneurs and consumers can confidently participate.

The launch comes as more Filipinos continue to embrace digital commerce, creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs to reach customers beyond traditional markets while encouraging businesses to continuously innovate and adapt to evolving consumer expectations.

Organizers envision ECOMEX as more than an annual business event. It is designed as a long-term platform where entrepreneurs, creators, educators, technology providers, investors, government agencies and business organizations can connect, learn from one another and build meaningful partnerships that strengthen the Philippine entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Powered by PHILSME and organized by MediaTrix Solutions Inc., ECOMEX builds on years of experience bringing together entrepreneurs and business leaders through platforms that promote learning, collaboration and enterprise development.

ECOMEX is the Philippines’ biggest expo, conference, and networking event for entrepreneurs, online sellers, and digital innovators.

Exhibitor, sponsorship, speaking and partnership opportunities are now open for E-Commerce Expo Philippines (ECOMEX) 2026. Entrepreneurs, brands, technology companies, creators, educators and organizations are encouraged to become part of the growing community that is helping shape the future of Philippine digital commerce.

  • What Sophos Fusion brings to AI-native cybersecurity for businesses

What Sophos Fusion brings to AI-native cybersecurity for businesses

Sophos has introduced Sophos Fusion, describing it as the industry’s first and most complete AI-native cybersecurity defense system designed to help organizations respond to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats powered by artificial intelligence.

The new platform combines security operations, endpoint protection, network security, identity, email, cloud security, and advisory services into a single defense system that aims to prevent, detect, investigate, and respond to attacks through a unified architecture.

According to Sophos, the cybersecurity industry is shifting toward defense systems that connect security controls, services, data sources, and analysts into one coordinated platform, regardless of whether technologies are developed by Sophos or third-party vendors.

The company said the growing use of AI has accelerated cyberattacks, allowing threat actors to move through an organization’s environment in hours instead of days, while many enterprises continue relying on dozens of disconnected security products.

Sophos said a cybersecurity defense system addresses that challenge through four core components:

    • A shared context lake that collects real-time signals from every security control point.
    • Synchronized Security™, allowing detections in one area to automatically trigger responses across other security layers.
    • Agentic AI operating within analyst-defined boundaries and human oversight.
    • Compounding intelligence that strengthens customer defenses using threat data gathered across the broader Sophos customer base.

Sophos Fusion builds on Sophos Central, which the company said is used by more than 625,000 organizations worldwide, and incorporates Secureworks Taegis analytics following Sophos’ acquisition of Secureworks in 2025.

The company said the platform also supports more than 500 third-party integrations, enabling organizations to connect existing endpoint, firewall, and identity security products into the same environment alongside Sophos technologies.

Sophos said it validates the platform through its own security operations center, which supports more than 40,000 customers worldwide.

According to the company, 52 percent of security cases are resolved entirely by AI, while the average time from an alert to a fully automated response is 89 seconds.

Sophos also said its endpoint protection is designed to block broad categories of attacks based on malicious behaviors, including memory abuse, data encryption, data exfiltration, and techniques used by both human and AI-driven attackers.

“As AI increases the speed, scale, and complexity of attacks, organizations need a modern connected, intelligent, and adaptive defense,” said Joe Levy, chief executive officer, Sophos. “Sophos Fusion is built as a defense system optimized for Human-AI workflows. We bring the most complete solution to a new category, a timely advancement demanded by the AI era.”

Industry analysts also pointed to growing demand for AI-driven security operations.

“Futurum Group’s market forecast projects Security Operations — the segment where AI-native orchestration and adaptive defense systems compete — will double from $18B to $37B by 2029, growing faster than any other cybersecurity category,” said Fernando Montenegro, vice president & practice lead, cybersecurity & resilience, The Futurum Group. “This is where the next generation of cyber defense will be won.”

According to Gartner distinguished analyst Neil MacDonald, “Simply adding more tools onto the stack won’t provide the intelligent cyber defense fabric that organizations need to mitigate AI-orchestrated attacks like the one Anthropic recently identified. Organizations need an intelligent overlay that connects the different elements of their cybersecurity toolset to proactively and reactively respond to risks and threats at machine speeds.”

Sophos also announced several new Fusion capabilities scheduled to become generally available between August and October 2026.

    These include:

    • Sophos Next-Gen SIEM, offering long-term data retention, compliance reporting, and analytics with pricing based on users and servers rather than data volume, generally available Aug. 15, 2026.
    • Sophos AI Defense, designed to provide visibility into AI tools, including shadow AI, enforce AI usage policies, and protect accessible data, with early access in August 2026 and general availability in October 2026.
    • Sophos CISO Advantage, providing organizations with continuous control validation, compliance mapping, peer benchmarking, and risk assessment alongside expert guidance, beginning October 2026.
    • Expanded Sophos MDR with continuous AI-enabled threat hunting and broader response capabilities across endpoint, firewall, cloud, email, and identity, generally available Aug. 15, 2026.
    • Sophos XDR powered by Secureworks, rebuilt using Secureworks Taegis analytics with additional detectors, a new analyst experience, and built-in SOAR automation, generally available Aug. 15, 2026.

The company said Sophos Fusion is also designed to support managed service providers, managed security service providers, resellers, distributors, and technology partners by allowing them to manage a unified defense system instead of multiple standalone security products while expanding recurring service opportunities.

  • Why ex-DOH chief Herbosa says medicine is for healers, not those seeking riches

Why ex-DOH chief Herbosa says medicine is for healers, not those seeking riches

Former Department of Health secretary Ted Herbosa said medicine should be pursued as a profession and vocation rather than a business, arguing that aspiring physicians motivated primarily by financial gain may be better suited for another career.

In a statement, Herbosa said the demands of being a doctor extend far beyond compensation because physicians carry the responsibility of making life-and-death decisions.

“Medicine is a profession. Is a vocation. It is not a business. Although some it a business. Those who feel frustrated about pay probably shouldn’t be doctors and just quit and join the IT industry. Being a physician requires certain demands. Why wouldn’t it, it’s a life or death thing! You make a mistake your patient dies! It’s not for the weak hearted and those who just want to be rich.”

Herbosa said the practice of medicine is rooted in compassion, empathy, and a commitment to helping others rather than financial rewards.

“It’s about compassion and empathy to care, it’s about loving what you do. It’s about the gratification of healing people you don’t know and save their lives.”

Reflecting on the latter part of his medical career, Herbosa said the greatest reward comes from meeting former patients and their families years later and learning that the treatment they received continues to have a lasting impact.

“I’m in the end part of my career and the greatest feeling I always get when I meet someone I don’t know who tells me I treated their mother for cancer 30 years ago and still alive!”

He also cited his experiences joining surgical missions in remote Philippine islands, where he voluntarily provided medical services to patients who otherwise could not access or afford them.

“It’s the same feeling I get when I join a surgical mission in a remote island offering my surgical skills in a remote island in the Philippines to poor people who wouldn’t be able to access those services or afford my professional fees. And out of gratitude, they gift with you kakanin, fruits maybe a beautifully woven banig. No, money isnt everything. That week in that remote island would have earned me several hundred thousands in professional fees I gave up.”

Herbosa said the true purpose of practicing medicine is to become a healer and serve others regardless of the challenges involved.

“But in the end you practice medicine not because you want money, but because you want to be a healer and you just plainly want to help no matter how hard it is. So to the young guy who asks if Medicine is the right course for you, answer the question if you really want it! Don’t ask the question of how much money you will make!”

He concluded his statement by reflecting on his career and the lives he believes he has helped improve.

“Hindi nasira buhay ko. Gumanda pa nga at ang daming pang buhay ang napaganda ko!”

  • 7-Eleven Philippines Hits Record ₱99.4B in Sales Amid Historic Leadership Handover

7-Eleven Philippines Hits Record ₱99.4B in Sales Amid Historic Leadership Handover

Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC) has shattered its previous sales records, posting a historic ₱99.4 billion in system-wide sales for 2025.

The milestone comes during a pivotal year of leadership transition, with newly appointed President Richard Lee steering the country’s dominant convenience store network into its next chapter of digital and physical expansion.

The record-setting sales figure represents a 6.4% growth from the ₱93.5 billion recorded in 2024. Driven by an increase in customer foot traffic, larger average purchases, and aggressive nationwide expansion, PSC’s revenue also climbed 7.2% to reach ₱95.1 billion.

Despite operating in a challenging economic landscape, PSC maintained a robust net income of ₱3.6 billion. The company significantly reinforced its financial health, growing total assets by 10.5% to ₱47.8 billion and boosting stockholders’ equity by 23% to ₱11.2 billion. Return on equity reached an all-time high of 35.61%, while the debt-to-equity ratio was kept at 3.28x to allow flexibility for future growth.

“We delivered another solid year in a demanding environment,” said Richard Lee, President of Philippine Seven Corporation. “Our priority was continuity, keeping the momentum going while strengthening the business for what comes next. We stayed disciplined in how we grow and kept investing in the capabilities that serve our customers and shareholders over the long term.”

    A Strategic Leadership Handover

The year 2025 marked a major corporate milestone as long-time executive Jose Victor Paterno transitioned to Chairman of the Board in July, passing the presidential torch to Lee. This handover was designed to maintain operational stability while accelerating the company’s long-term digital and modernization strategies.

Highlighting the company’s strategic direction, Philippine Seven Corporation Board Chairman Jose Victor Paterno noted that the past year represented a pivotal transition period.

“I am confident in the leadership now guiding the Company day to day,” Paterno said. “Richard brings a deep understanding of our operations and a disciplined approach to growth. As the Board, our focus remains on sustaining that momentum and creating lasting value for our shareholders and the communities we serve.”

    Physical Footprint and Franchise Balance

To cement its dominant market position, PSC added 423 new 7-Eleven locations in 2025, bringing its total national network to 4,491 stores.

    • Company-Owned Stores: 53.42% of the total network

    • Franchised Stores: 46.58% of the total network

Growth was heavily supported by strong sales in fresh food offerings and PSC’s proprietary foodservice brands.

    Rapid Digital Transformation

Parallel to its physical expansion, PSC aggressively invested in modernizing its operations. The retailer’s push toward cashless payment systems saw rapid adoption:

    • End of 2025: Cashless payments successfully rolled out to over 1,000 stores.

    • May 2026: Cashless systems expanded exponentially, covering more than 4,000 stores.

Customers across these locations can now complete transactions using credit cards, debit cards, QR Ph, and various e-wallets, drastically reducing transaction times and streamlining store operations.

“We enter the next chapter with confidence,” Lee added. “Our focus now is on execution, opening the right stores, deepening how we serve customers, and scaling the digital and payment capabilities we built this year. That is how we keep 7-Eleven the most convenient choice for Filipinos wherever they are.”

New ARV drug shipment arrives, easing shortage fears for thousands of Filipino living with HIV

Photo caption: Dr. Ronivin Pagtakhan, Founder and Executive Director of LoveYourself Inc. with Department of Health Secretary Dr. Jose “Brix” Pujalte Jr.

LoveYourself Inc., a non-government organization, announced the arrival of long-awaited antiretroviral (ARV) medicines for people living with HIV (PLHIV), describing the development as a significant step toward ensuring uninterrupted treatment for thousands of Filipinos who rely on life-saving HIV medication.

“Para sa ating mga PLHIV: huwag na kayong mag-alala. Dumating na ang mga gamot. Bukod dito, patuloy din naming ginamit ang mga nauna naming na-procure na suplay upang masigurong walang mapuputulan ng treatment habang hinihintay natin ang pagdating ng mga bagong stocks,” the group announced on its social media pages.

LoveYourself said it hopes the arrival of the medicines will mark the beginning of a stronger and more reliable procurement and distribution system for HIV commodities across the country.

“Umaasa kami na ito na ang simula ng mas matatag na procurement at distribution system para sa HIV commodities sa buong bansa,” it said, adding that strengthening the country’s HIV supply chain is essential to prevent future shortages and ensure that treatment hubs serving the largest number of clients receive adequate and timely supplies of ARV medicines.

“Sana ay patuloy nating mapabuti ang supply chain at mabigyang prayoridad ang mga hubs na may pinakamalaking bilang ng mga kliyenteng nangangailangan ng serbisyo. Sa LoveYourself pa lamang, halos 15,000 na ang aming mga kliyenteng kasalukuyang nasa treatment,” the group added.

Stressing that addressing the country’s HIV epidemic requires going beyond treatment, LoveYourself urged the government to invest more heavily in HIV prevention programs, including wider access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), HIV testing, HIV self-testing, and other evidence-based preventive services.

LoveYourself expressed its gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for responding to its appeals regarding the shortage of HIV commodities, as well as to newly appointed Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Dr. Jose S. “Brix” Pujalte Jr. for swiftly addressing the issue during the first days of his tenure.

The organization likewise expressed optimism about working with the new leadership of the DOH, saying that while significant challenges remain, meaningful progress can be achieved through continued collaboration among government, civil society, healthcare providers, and the HIV community.

“Excited kaming makatrabaho ang bagong kalihim ng kalusugan. Marami pa tayong kailangang gawin, pero marami rin tayong pwedeng makamit kung sama-sama tayong kikilos,” it said.

  • Why PharmaServ Express is PH’s Trusted Vaccine Logistics Partner

Why PharmaServ Express is PH’s Trusted Vaccine Logistics Partner

The Philippine government’s vaccine distribution program boasts of a world-class logistics system, thanks to PharmaServ Express’ internationally compliant cold chain and delivery systems that guarantee the safety and potency of vaccines from storage to delivery, even to the country’s far-flung communities.

PharmaServ Express has been doing vaccine distribution and has brought advanced and world-class technologies to the country even before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our technology meets the highest international standards for vaccine storage and transport,” said PharmaServ Express President Andrian Perez.

“As a dedicated life science logistics provider, we’ve invested in superior, globally compliant cold chain systems, specialized bio-thermal packaging, and real-time visibility solutions—significantly enhancing the country’s capability to preserve and account for every vaccine from storage through distribution,” he added.

The Department of Health (DOH) was using styrofoam boxes and ice packs before PharmaServ Express came on board in 2017 and introduced internationally compliant and world-class standard bio-thermal cases and cold chain packaging solutions.

Among its key innovations is the use of ISTA (International Safe Transit Association)-validated bio-thermal packaging systems capable of maintaining the required temperature for up to 168 hours, ensuring vaccines remain safe and effective even during long-distance transport to geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.

Through these innovations, every vaccine distributed by the DOH is transported and distributed under strict temperature-controlled conditions ranging from 2-8 degree Centigrade down to -80 Centigrade. This helps preserve its efficacy and potency until it reaches health facilities and vaccination sites nationwide.

The system also has a real-time visibility and end-to-end traceability, giving the DOH live temperature and location monitoring for every shipment—so no vaccine moves unaccounted for.

“By pairing precision cold chain with real-time visibility, PharmaServ Express gives the DOH complete traceability—the ability to track, verify, and prove vaccine integrity at every stage of the journey,” Perez said.

PharmaServ Express is also certified in Good Distribution Practices of the World Health Organization (GDP-WHO), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) for Pharmaceuticals, and ISO 14001 for environmental management, underscoring its adherence to globally recognized standards for pharmaceutical logistics and environmental safety.

PharmaServ Express serves as the preferred service provider of the DOH for its National Immunization Program (NIP) in handling and transporting vaccines to different Regional Health Offices for the vaccination of young children and their mothers.

The company further stepped up during the COVID-19 pandemic, handling, storing, and transporting vaccines delivered to various sites throughout the country.

The platform also includes an AI-powered CV checker that evaluates resumes across 11 quality metrics, assigns a score out of 100 and provides personalized recommendations to help applicants strengthen their CVs before applying for remote positions.

Beyond employment services, Crew Club has introduced a Partner Rewards Program that provides members with discounts from participating businesses across several sectors, including:

    • Fitness centers
    • Solar installation services
    • Hotels and accommodation
    • Restaurants
    • Fragrance retailers
    • Laser eye surgery providers
    • Professional photography services

The company said additional partner businesses will be added in the coming months as the membership program expands.

Crew Club also plans to launch the Crew Store, where members will be able to purchase work-from-home equipment at competitive prices, with financing options intended to make home office setups more accessible.

“Our ambition is to create the Philippines’ most rewarding professional membership community. We believe investing in your career should come with benefits that improve everyday life as well.”

The platform has also partnered with online communities to broaden its reach, beginning with Maria Korina Bertulfo of FHMoms, a community with more than 540,000 members. It has since expanded through its Earn with Crew affiliate and partnership program and is seeking additional collaborators.

Alongside its online initiatives, Crew Club has organized community activities in the Philippines, including sponsoring a community meal and donating ₱50,000 worth of equipment to Sto. Niño de Taguig Parish Church.

Looking ahead, Crew Club plans to continue growing its network of Australian employers while introducing more educational resources, career events, partner offers and membership benefits for professionals across the Philippines. Membership is now available nationwide.

    The ManulifeMOVE Cancer Care explained

Manulife China Bank Life (MCBL), the strategic alliance between Manulife Philippines and China Banking Corporation, is expanding access to cancer care solutions through ManulifeMOVE Cancer Care, a program designed to help customers take a more proactive approach to their health and support longer, healthier lives.

As part of the program, eligible customers will have access to Guardant Health’s Shield™ multi-cancer detection (MCD) laboratory developed test (LDT), following Manulife’s exclusive partnership with Guardant Health announced earlier this year. The offering will also soon be available through Manulife Philippines.

Under Manulife’s exclusive partnership with Guardant Health, Inc. a leading precision oncology company—Manulife became the first insurer in Asia to offer the Shield MCD test to customers in Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Philippines. The program expands access to innovative, proven health solutions at a time when cancer remains one of the country’s top causes of death and a significant barrier to longevity for Filipino families. This partnership aligns with the Manulife Longevity Institute, a global research, thought leadership, innovation, advocacy, and community investment platform that aims to advance action on helping people live longer, healthier, and more financially secure lives.

This program is powered by Manulife’s partnership with AC Health, a leading integrated healthcare network in the Philippines. At the heart of the network is Healthway Cancer Care Hospital (HCCH)—the Philippines’ first dedicated and comprehensive cancer hospital. This collaboration between the parties brings together Manulife’s ambition to become the most trusted partner for health, wealth, and longevity, HCCH’s expertise across the full spectrum of cancer care from early cancer detection and diagnosis to advanced treatment and survivorship, and Guardant Health’s commitment to helping individuals live longer and healthier lives through blood-based cancer testing.

“Far too many Filipino families are confronted with lifealtering decisions only after cancer is detected too late, when options are limited and financial pressures intensify,” said Rahul Hora, President and Chief Executive Officer, Manulife Philippines. “By bringing Shield MCD to eligible customers of Manulife Philippines and MCBL, we’re helping move that decision point earlier by encouraging timely medical conversations and better-informed choices. This can help reduce treatment complexity and cost over time, while we strengthen health and longevity outcomes for more Filipinos.”

With just a blood draw, the Shield MCD test screens for 10 of the most common cancers, many of which have high mortality rates in Asia and the Philippines. The test received Breakthrough Device Designation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in June 2025*1.

“We are proud to deepen our partnership with Manulife by bringing the Shield MCD test to their customers in the Philippines,” said Simranjit Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Guardant Health AMEA. “Cancer remains one of the most pressing health challenges for Filipinos, and Shield MCD offers a powerful new way to tackle this—detecting multiple cancers through a single blood draw. This collaboration underscores our shared dedication to putting innovative health solutions within reach, and we look forward to the difference we can make together in the Philippines.”

“Wider access to early, convenient screening can help more Filipino families take a proactive approach to their health and support their journey toward longer, healthier lives,” said Amy Gochuico, President and Chief Executive Officer, MCBL. “Through our extensive bancassurance network, we are helping bring innovations like Shield MCD closer to more communities, supporting a more proactive and continuous approach to cancer care.”

“We believe one of the greatest opportunities in cancer care is identifying risk and disease earlier, before symptoms appear and treatment becomes more complex,” said Dr. Ramy Roxas, Chief Operating Officer of Healthway Cancer Care Hospital. “We strongly encourage Filipinos to be proactive about their health and participate in appropriate cancer screening, as early detection can significantly improve outcomes and expand treatment options. At Healthway Cancer Care Hospital, our goal is to support patients across the entire cancer journey—from prevention and early detection to diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.”

Eligible customers of MCBL, and soon, of Manulife Philippines, will be contacted by their financial advisor or financial sales associate to learn more about the Shield MCD test.
