Canon has launched eight new imagePROGRAF TM Series models, including the lineup’s first multifunction printers with built-in large-format scanners.
The new range, launched Oct. 1, comprises six printers and two MFPs designed for offices, engineering firms and print shops, with the machines built for compact, front-facing operation.
The two MFP models are the 36-inch TM-5610M and the 24-inch TM-5510M, while the printer lineup consists of the TM-5500, TM-5600, TM-5510, TM-5515, TM-5610 and TM-5615.
The MFPs combine printing, copying and scanning in a footprint comparable to printer-only models, with originals placed directly on the flat top of the machines.
Canon said the scanners use light sources positioned on both sides to minimize shadows, wrinkles and creases during scanning.
The MFPs also include presets for CAD drawings, blueprints and maps to help produce scans suited to those document types.
For printing, the new models use five-colour pigment ink featuring a new matte black designed to produce deeper blacks, crisp lines and precise text at high speed.
A new colour mapping technology is also designed to produce vivid poster prints, including when using plain paper.
The printer bodies incorporate approximately 5% recycled iron and 25% recycled plastic.
