Venture capital firm Bessemer Venture Partners has secured $5.75 billion across two new funds, aiming to channel fresh capital into every layer of the artificial intelligence stack.
The capital allocation splits $1.75 billion toward seed and early-stage investments, while the remaining $4 billion is earmarked for growth-stage startups. The announcement builds on Bessemer’s existing portfolio of prominent technology and AI companies, which includes Anthropic, Cognition, Legora, Perplexity, Ramp, Shopify, and Waymo.
The new funds arrive as artificial intelligence startups demonstrate unprecedented speed in reaching commercial scale compared to previous software generations.
“AI-native companies are scaling faster than any category of technology we’ve backed before,” Bessemer Partner Byron Deeter said in the company’s funding announcement.
The major fundraise comes as a direct response to macroeconomic shifts in the tech sector, where late-stage startups delay public offerings and remain in private hands longer. VC firms need to keep increasing their war chests, Deeter told Bloomberg, because companies staying private longer has become “a permanent structural shift.”
Known historically for its investments during the enterprise software-as-a-service (SaaS) era—with stakes in companies such as Box, Docusign, and Gainsight—Bessemer has aggressively pivoted toward artificial intelligence in recent years.
Since 2022, the firm’s portfolio strategy has focused heavily on emerging intelligence platforms:
- Overall AI Reach: Invested in more than 260 AI-native startups since 2022.
- Capital Deployed: Committed $3 billion into AI-related ventures to date.
- Target Categories: Financed companies across compute, infrastructure, foundation models, developer tools, application-layer startups, and agentic technology.
With $5.75 billion in total new capital ready to deploy, Bessemer positions the ongoing shift toward artificial intelligence as a foundational generational opportunity for early-stage founders and late-stage tech scale-ups alike.
