Offshore hiring marketplace HireLago is pushing for higher compensation and greater recognition for remote Filipino workers operating on overnight shifts for US companies.

Broc Langhaim, co-founder and chief executive officer of HireLago, highlighted the severe personal strain involved when international staff synchronize their schedules with US business hours. Working a typical US schedule requires employees in Manila to remain active from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. local time, working through the night while their families are awake.

“To every Filipino working US hours right now, thank you,” Langhaim said. “I don’t think most companies here realize what that actually means. When a US company says ‘we need you on our hours’ that’s 9pm to 5am in Manila. Every single night. Your Friday shift ends at 5am Saturday. Your Monday starts Monday night. You sleep while your family is awake and you work while the whole country is asleep.”

Langhaim noted that despite the schedule dislocation, Filipino talent consistently maintains high performance levels, often identifying potential operational issues before they escalate.

“I have worked with Filipino talent for 12+ years and this part still gets me,” Langhaim added. “You flipped your whole life around to match someone else’s clock. That is the extra mile. Honestly it should be recognized like it, and paid like it too. If you’re a US founder reading this, go tell your team in the Philippines thank you today. It’s 7pm there right now. They’re about to start their Friday night for you. Salamat sa inyo. Anak araw ako”

The push for equitable treatment aligns with HireLago’s operational structure, which removes traditional recruitment agency markups to ensure talent retains 100% of their earnings.

Drawing on over eight years and 1,000 hires worth of direct industry experience, Langhaim co-founded HireLago to connect employers directly with vetted professionals across three primary regions: the Philippines, Eastern Europe, and Latin America (LATAM).

Key metrics driving HireLago’s marketplace model include:

  • Rigorous Vetting: A selective screening process that maintains a 15% acceptance rate across technical, sales, marketing, customer service, and e-commerce roles.
  • Rapid Turnaround: Candidate placement delivered to employers in an average of seven days.
  • High Satisfaction: A reported 98% employer satisfaction rate across international hires.
  • Direct Earnings: A marketplace design where talent keeps all of their negotiated pay without agency salary cuts.

HireLago continues to expand its network across its core regional hubs to establish direct, middleman-free connections between global businesses and remote workers.
