Coca-Cola concludes waste recovery initiative with MMDA
Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have successfully concluded their collaborative waste recovery initiative, Tapon to Ipon: Basta Klaro, Panalo! Barangay Contest.
This program combined CCBPI’s recycling efforts with MMDA’s Mobile Material Recovery Facility (MMRF) project, encouraging barangays to collect clear PET plastic bottles and Coca-Cola glass bottles.
The contest ran from June to August 2024, engaging over 20 barangays across Metro Manila.
Barangay Pinagsama in Taguig emerged victorious, while Barangay Tejeros in Makati and Barangay Bayanan in Muntinlupa secured second and third places, respectively.
Brgy. Chairman Ma. Victoria Mortel emphasized the importance of community collaboration in their success, stating, “Our hard work is dedicated to our community.”
The partnership aims to enhance public awareness of recycling and bolster community involvement in waste management.
Atty. Juan Lorenzo Tañada, VP for Corporate and Regulatory Affairs at CCBPI, praised the initiative’s impact on local sustainability efforts.
MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando S. Artes expressed optimism for future joint projects stemming from this successful collaboration.
CCBPI’s overarching goal is to promote a circular economy through its national collection program while fostering environmental responsibility among Filipinos.
