Philippines’ BPOs Surpass Global Trend as Agentic AI Reshapes Jobs, Schools, and Industries

The Philippines is emerging as a surprising frontrunner in the adoption of agentic AI, a powerful form of artificial intelligence capable of performing tasks without human oversight.
At the 8th GAIN National Convention in Manila, industry leaders and educators revealed that local BPO companies are integrating agentic AI at a rate three times higher than the global average.
Doc Ligot of the Philippine AI Business Association disclosed that 11% of BPO firms in the country have already fully adopted agentic AI, compared to just 4% globally, while 56% are actively transitioning their operations. Experts at the convention agreed that early adoption and skills training will determine who thrives as AI reshapes industries.
Healthcare and fintech sectors abroad have already demonstrated how AI can streamline patient care and strengthen fraud detection, and Philippine stakeholders see similar opportunities. However, the push for AI is also exposing long-standing gaps between industry needs and educational priorities.
“Agentic AI will only get better, like generative AI did,” said Southville Global Education Network CTO Rex Wallen Tan, warning that late adopters risk being left behind. Experts urged stronger collaboration among government, schools, and businesses to align training with the demands of an AI-powered workforce.
