The 8500 chip could make every phone a powerhouse

MediaTek has unveiled its latest mobile chipsets, the Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500, targeting flagship and premium smartphones with a focus on performance, gaming, efficiency, AI, and imaging capabilities.
JC Hsu, corporate senior vice president at MediaTek, emphasized the company’s commitment to advanced technologies, stating that the new chipsets aim to deliver flagship experiences while maintaining high energy efficiency.
The Dimensity 9500s uses a 3nm process with an All Big Core CPU, including one Cortex-X925 ultra core at 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 premium cores, and four Cortex-A720 performance cores.
It integrates the Immortalis-G925 GPU, supporting advanced ray tracing and adaptive gaming technologies that extend battery life. The NPU is optimized for generative AI and multi-modal models, enabling advanced camera functions, AI photo editing, and content summarization.
MediaTek’s Imagiq image processor allows 8K Dolby Vision HDR video recording and real-time 30fps motion tracking. Connectivity features include a 5G Release-17 modem with up to 7Gbps downlink, MediaTek UltraSave 4.0 power saving, AI network suite 2.0 for weak network environments, Xtra Range 3.0 for extended Wi-Fi coverage, and Bluetooth direct connection up to 5 kilometers.
The Dimensity 8500, built on a 4nm process, features eight Cortex-A725 cores at up to 3.4GHz and a Mali-G720 GPU, offering 25% improved peak performance with 20% lower power consumption.
It supports LPDDR5X 9600Mbps memory for smooth multitasking and gaming, ray tracing in mainstream games, and advanced AI functions for image optimization and telephoto clarity. The 8th-generation NPU supports large language models and image generation.
Both chipsets reflect MediaTek’s focus on high-performance, energy-efficient mobile technology. The company powers over 2 billion devices annually and continues to drive innovation in AI, 5G, and advanced mobile experiences worldwide.
