Filipino agencies are turning PR upside down and global brands are paying attention

If your social feeds feel like the world revolves around Asia, there’s a reason. Ana Ruby Pista, APR, CEO of Ardent Communications and the AI Centre of Excellence, says Asia-Pacific isn’t just participating in global communications—it’s shaping it, and the Philippines is at the heart of the shift.
At THRIVE 2026, held at Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams from March 12-14, Pista told regional communications leaders that the region’s strength lies in its social fabric, cultural complexity, and hyper-connected communities. Mobile-first ecosystems mean influence spreads through relationships, not institutions, making Asian culture—from entertainment to food to digital trends—a global force.
Philippine agencies are shifting from service providers to strategic business partners. They now measure sentiment in real time, predict trends, and link campaigns to brand perception and sales pipelines. Pista said these agencies are building communities, managing influencers as media networks, and creating content that drives action, not just placement.
Talent retention is a top challenge. At Ardent Communications, Pista introduced “intrapreneurship” and flexible work to let young professionals own their portfolios. “When a 24-year-old employee feels they are building their own portfolio, not just fulfilling a client’s timesheet, loyalty skyrockets,” she said.
Geopolitics is also a daily reality. Southeast Asia sits at the crossroads of global tension, making cultural intelligence a must for effective communications. Ardent positions its teams as “Cultural Translators,” helping organizations navigate markets with context and sensitivity.
AI is transforming the field without replacing human insight. Pista explained that AI can draft a press release in seconds but cannot predict how it lands in a specific barangay in the Philippines. By automating routine tasks, AI frees small teams to focus on high-touch, high-context strategy rooted in local expertise.
Looking ahead, Pista sees Asia exporting its cultural intelligence and community-first instincts as the new global standard. The discussion at THRIVE 2026 made it clear: the Philippines is no longer just following global PR trends—it is helping write them.
