Asia Pacific is emerging as a global leader in artificial intelligence adoption, with 78% of professionals using AI weekly compared with 72% globally, according to Kaspersky.

The region’s rapid adoption is fueled by hyper-connected consumers, widespread device penetration, and younger populations who integrate AI into daily life before formal enterprise rollouts.

Analysts say this bottom-up momentum, coupled with robust investment and CEO-led strategies, positions APAC as a proving ground for “AI Frontier” companies.

Experts warn that as AI adoption rises, it is reshaping both business operations and the cybersecurity landscape. Kaspersky notes that AI is being used by cybercriminals to automate attacks, create highly realistic deepfakes, and deploy sophisticated phishing campaigns.

The growing realism of synthetic content is prompting organizations to implement systematic training and internal policies to reduce vulnerabilities.

Kaspersky predicts that AI-generated deepfakes will continue to improve in audio and visual quality while becoming easier for non-experts to produce, increasing potential misuse.

Efforts to develop reliable labeling systems for synthetic content remain ongoing, as current standards are easily bypassed. Analysts say open-source AI models are approaching the capabilities of closed systems, blurring lines between legitimate and malicious uses.

Security experts expect AI to become a cross-chain tool in cyberattacks, supporting multiple stages from reconnaissance to deployment, while also becoming a standard tool for defenders.

Agent-based systems are expected to reduce manual tasks for security teams by continuously scanning networks and preparing contextual information for faster decision-making.

Vladislav Tushkanov, research development manager at Kaspersky, said AI is transforming cybersecurity from both offensive and defensive perspectives. Adrian Hia, managing director for Asia Pacific at Kaspersky, emphasized that businesses in the region must strengthen defenses while leveraging AI-driven opportunities.

Kaspersky recommends updating software, limiting public exposure of remote services, using advanced security solutions, staying informed on threat intelligence, and maintaining isolated backups to protect AI-driven systems.
