F.P.Journe’s Singular Chronomètre à Résonance Achieves Historic Auction Triumph for Philanthropy

In an exquisite display of horological artistry and benevolence, F.P.Journe has once again reaffirmed its commitment to both innovation and philanthropy with the sale of a truly singular timepiece.

A unique Chronomètre à Résonance, meticulously crafted for an elite connoisseur, became the crown jewel of the ninth edition of the prestigious Ball in Monaco gala, held in Singapore on November 27. Under the expert gavel of Thomas Perazzi, Head of Watches, Asia, at Phillips, this extraordinary creation commanded an astounding SGD 4 million (US$2.98 million).

Every cent of this remarkable sum has been dedicated to the noble mission of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, advancing critical efforts in environmental preservation.

The air crackled with anticipation as a fervent bidding war unfolded, lasting a riveting fifteen minutes. Nine impassioned phone bidders, alongside an array of distinguished guests within the room, vied ardently for the privilege of ownership, each recognizing the exceptional rarity and historical significance of the timepiece.

A natural successor to F.P.Journe’s previous philanthropic masterpieces—2018’s Chronographe Monopoussoir Rattrapante and 2022’s Chronomètre Optimum—this latest creation transcends even its esteemed predecessors in ingenuity and cultural resonance.

At its heart lies a poetic fusion of past and present, East and West. The dial, an exquisite symphony of textures and tones, is adorned with a resplendent burgundy hue and enriched by ruthenium-plated guilloché silver. In an homage to the grandeur of time itself, F.P.Journe weaves history into the very fabric of this timepiece: the right dial is graced with contemporary Chinese numerals, while the left pays tribute to antiquity with characters inspired by Oracle Bone Script, a rare and ancient form of writing dating back over three millennia to the Shang Dynasty.

Bearing the distinguished serial number 638-RQ, this Chronomètre à Résonance is further immortalized by an inscription of singular importance: S.A.S Albert II Singapore 2024—a testament to its place in history and an enduring symbol of refined patronage.

Beyond its impeccable craftsmanship, this timepiece embodies an ethos of rarity and purpose, an object of desire not merely for its mechanical precision but for the legacy it represents. A confluence of aesthetic mastery and philanthropic impact, it stands as a beacon for those who appreciate the extraordinary—both in horology and in humanity.
