HUAWEI Philippines has introduced Watch Pay, a new QR code payment feature in collaboration with GCash, enabling seamless cashless transactions on its latest wearable devices.
The feature is the first of its kind in the Philippines, allowing users to make payments via QR codes directly from smartwatches, including the HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate, WATCH GT 4, WATCH GT 5 Series, WATCH D2, WATCH Fit 3, and Band 10.
The launch follows HUAWEI’s continued dominance in the global wearables market, ranking first for wrist-worn devices priced below $700 in 2024, according to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker. The company achieved a 33.6% increase in global shipments, despite a 1.4% decline in the overall market.
GCash, operated by Mynt, is the Philippines’ leading finance super app, offering digital payments, money transfers, and financial services to millions of users. Its integration with Watch Pay enhances convenience by eliminating the need for physical wallets or mobile phones during transactions.
To use GCash on HUAWEI smartwatches, users must log into their HUAWEI ID, connect the HUAWEI Health app, and link their verified GCash account. Once set up, users can make payments by scanning the dynamic QR code displayed on their smartwatch at participating merchants such as 7-Eleven, Lawson, Marketplace, and Starbucks.
HUAWEI continues to expand its presence across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, driving innovation in wearable technology. Watch Pay is available on major e-commerce platforms and HUAWEI Experience Stores nationwide.
