In a groundbreaking development, Inkia Energy has received environmental approval for its solar power plant expansion in Southern Peru.
The project, named Sunny, will increase its capacity from 228 MWp to 338 MWp.
This facility is expected to be fully operational by the second half of 2025, positioning Inkia as a leader in renewable energy.
As Peru’s largest power generator, Inkia is backed by global infrastructure investor I Squared Capital.
In addition to Sunny, the company is advancing two adjacent solar projects, collectively enhancing “Peru’s Solar Hub.”
These initiatives aim to contribute approximately 1 GWp of renewable energy to the National Interconnected Grid by late 2025.
Looking forward, Inkia plans to launch two wind projects with a combined capacity of at least 600 MW by 2026.
This diverse energy portfolio will bolster Inkia’s position in meeting Peru’s growing energy needs.
CEO Willem Van Twembeke stated that this marks the onset of the “Inkia 2.0” expansion campaign.
The company aims to deliver reliable power through a blend of renewable sources and efficient natural gas solutions.
In addition, Inkia offers tailored energy solutions via its retail arm, Kondu, catering to small and medium enterprises.
