Half of the world’s population will encounter a mental health disorder, yet the average number of mental health professionals is a mere 13 per 100,000 people, according to the World Health Organization.

To bridge this staggering gap, Madrid-based startup Therapyside is equipping therapists with innovative AI tools designed to enhance mental health service delivery.

As part of NVIDIA’s Inception program, Therapyside is augmenting its online therapy platform with NVIDIA NIM inference microservices. These AI-powered virtual assistants and notetakers allow therapists to prioritize genuine connections with clients.

“In therapy, the alliance between counselor and client is crucial,” said Alessandro De Sario, founder and CEO of Therapyside. “When therapists can focus solely on the session, trust develops more rapidly.”

Currently in beta testing, Therapyside’s platform utilizes speech recognition to transcribe sessions while a large language model generates concise clinical notes. This efficiency enables therapists to engage with more clients effectively.

Looking ahead, Therapyside aims to introduce multilingual support and offline capabilities for in-person sessions. “We’ve only begun to explore the potential,” De Sario added. “Our mission is to empower therapists by streamlining administrative tasks.”
