TikTok Shop drives growth and expansion for onboarded brands

TikTok Shop’s recent Pilipinas Summit 2024 showcased its commitment to empowering sustainable business growth. The event united 700+ brands, businesses, content creators, and partners, highlighting how TikTok Shop’s innovative platform merges content and commerce to fuel business expansion.

TikTok Shop’s initiatives like Shop Tab, TikTok Shop Mall, and Super Brand Day have revolutionized e-commerce since its 2022 launch. Notably, live stream and short video views surged by 1.5x compared to Q1 2023, leading to a 9x increase in GMV through Shop Tab in Q2 2023. Super Brand Day witnessed a 250% GMV boost in 2024, while TikTok Shop Mall onboarded over 120% more sellers than in November 2023. Various categories like electronics, fashion, lifestyle, and FMCG have experienced substantial growth in their adapted channels.

Jonah Ople, Category Lead for Fashion at TikTok Shop, emphasized how over 2 million local businesses, mostly SMEs, benefit from TikTok Shop’s ability to connect them with consumers and the TikTok community. This connectivity enables SMEs to create seamless e-commerce experiences, reach new audiences, and expand their market reach.

Josefina’s Homemade Food, founded by Abby Ricohermoso, exemplifies TikTok Shop’s impact. Starting as a local carinderia in Bicol, it has grown into a nationwide business selling bottled ginataan products sourced from the Bicol Region. With a 22% sales increase in their top product, Josefina’s Homemade Food showcases how TikTok Shop empowers local businesses to thrive in the digital marketplace.

Valez expressed excitement about collaborating with platforms like TikTok Shop to elevate MSMEs and enhance their global presence. The TikTok Shop Summit Pilipinas aims to inspire and educate businesses to maximize e-commerce potential.

Ivana Alawi, TikTok Shop’s brand ambassador, has found success with her brands Ivana Skin and AiBeauty on the platform. Her engaging presence and community-building approach have resonated well, demonstrating TikTok Shop’s ability to uplift Filipino entrepreneurs.

TikTok Shop’s commitment extends beyond events with ongoing programs like TikTok Shop Business School and the upcoming 6.6 campaign. These initiatives aim to empower businesses, drive innovation, and foster positive change in the local e-commerce landscape, paving the way for inclusive and sustainable economic development in the Philippines.
