Vantage Energy, a subsidiary of Manny Pangilinan’s Meralco, will power 35 Gokongwei Group properties nationwide under a new Retail Electricity Supply Agreement.

The deal covers sites owned by Robinsons Land, Universal Robina Corporation, and Robinsons Supermarket Corporation.

Robinsons Land, the real estate arm of JG Summit, runs a mix of residential, office, commercial, and hotel developments.

URC is the group’s snack food and beverage giant with operations across ASEAN, while Robinsons Supermarket operates a nationwide grocery chain.

Vantage Energy, which supplies electricity to contestable customers outside Meralco’s franchise zone, will reportedly provide a portion of the energy from renewable sources.

The partnership is being touted as a major step in JG Summit’s sustainability goals, though most of the energy will still come from traditional sources.

The arrangement builds on a long-standing relationship between the two conglomerates, now with “green” branding for added press value.

In addition to powering business operations, Vantage claims to make a difference in communities through CSR efforts, though no specifics were provided.
