Major plastic polluter Coca-Cola shows support to MMDA’s recycling efforts
Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have successfully concluded their pilot waste recovery initiative, “Tapon to Ipon: Basta Klaro, Panalo!”
This campaign encouraged barangays to collect clear PET plastic bottles and Coca-Cola glass bottles, integrating CCBPI’s program with MMDA’s Mobile Material Recovery Facility (MMRF).
Over 20 barangays participated in the contest from June to August 2024, with Barangay Pinagsama in Taguig winning first place.
Barangay Chairman Ma. Victoria Mortel emphasized the community’s teamwork in achieving this milestone.
CCBPI and MMDA aim to enhance public awareness about recycling and waste management through this collaboration.
Atty. Juan Lorenzo Tañada from CCBPI praised the barangays for their commitment to sustainability.
MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando S. Artes expressed optimism for future joint recycling projects.
The program aligns with CCBPI’s goal of a “World Without Waste,” promoting environmental responsibility among Filipinos.
