Social media users blast welfare recipient over claims of insufficient government aid

Internet users are criticizing a member of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program who publicly stated that a government financial grant is inadequate for her family’s needs.
Alma Aquino, a beneficiary of the 4Ps initiative, claimed during a televised interview that the 8,000-peso social amelioration subsidy would likely only sustain her household for a single week.
The financial assistance is part of a 200-billion-peso government fund designated to support impoverished families and informal laborers during the extended community quarantine in Luzon.
Aquino explained that the monthly allocation is insufficient because she is responsible for a household consisting of eight people.
The controversial remarks gained significant traction online after a clip of the interview was shared by a popular social media page, quickly amassing hundreds of thousands of views and tens of thousands of interactions.
Numerous commenters expressed frustration with the beneficiary, suggesting that her lack of gratitude was disrespectful to the government’s relief efforts.
Comedienne Keanna Reeves joined the public outcry by mockingly suggesting that the authorities should retract the 8,000 pesos since the recipient acted as if she earned a much higher monthly salary.
Reeves further questioned why someone with such high expectations was included on a list intended for the most vulnerable citizens.
Social media personality Senyora also engaged her followers on the matter by asking them to speculate on how a family could exhaust that specific amount of money in just seven days.
The broad range of online reactions continues to include insults and sharp critiques directed at the 4Ps member for her assessment of the state-provided aid.
