Global AI device ecosystem company HONOR has launched the HONOR Robot Phone, an active physical companion and mobile production studio that integrates a fully motorized 3-axis mechanical gimbal directly into a premium flagship smartphone design.

Initially showcased at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 before appearing at the Cannes Film Festival’s China Night and the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival, the device is now beginning its global commercial rollout to bring professional-grade stabilization and cinematic workflows to mainstream creators.

Precision Mechanical Gimbal Squeezed into a Flagship Body

At the hardware core of the device is an ultra-compact 4DoF mechanical system powered by the HONOR Titanium Agile Gimbal. Developed across 60 manufacturing processes and backed by more than 100 patents, the setup integrates over 100 precision components.

Compared to standard external gimbals, HONOR reduced the overall system size by 65% while increasing structural strength by 200%. The mechanical setup features:

  • A 2.6g Titanium Gimbal Motor delivering control speeds up to 360° per second.
  • An HONOR Super steel Flip Motor yielding a torque density of 120 N·m/L for fast, stable positioning.

ARRI Partnership Brings Cinema Workflows to Mobile

The Robot Phone represents the first product milestone under the Cinematic Imaging Partnership between HONOR and ARRI, the world-renowned designer of professional cinema cameras. Rather than relying on simple software filters, the device integrates core elements of ARRI Image Science directly into its camera architecture.

The hardware is anchored by a dual 200MP camera configuration:

  • 200MP Agile Gimbal Main Camera: Features a 1/1.28-inch sensor with an f/1.6 aperture and native support for 10-bit ARRI LogC3 recording in ARRI CINEMA mode.
  • 200MP Periscope Telephoto Camera: Utilizes a 1/1.4-inch sensor with 2.7x optical zoom.
  • 50MP Ultra-Wide Camera: Provides a 122° field of view to complete the array.

Driven by the custom HONOR H1 Image Chip, the imaging pipeline processes data in 14-bit 4:4:4 before outputting 10-bit LogC3 and 4:2:2 video. This setup expands dynamic range up to 14 stops and improves video signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) by 8 dB via AI noise reduction.

Creators can preview ARRI Looks in real time and import footage directly into editing tools like DaVinci Resolve using native ARRI LUTs.

Embodied AI and Hands-Free Tracking via MagicOS

Running on MagicOS, the smartphone uses multimodal perception, gesture recognition, and voice source localization to function as an autonomous, hands-free personal camera crew. Through YOYO Robot Mode, the camera arm automatically pans and tilts to keep subjects in frame during vlogs, live streams, and video calls.

Key movement and software capabilities include:

  • Cinematic Movement Modes: Native support for Tilt Lock, First Person View (FPV), FPV Vertical, and AI SpinShot movements.
  • Gesture Control: Touchless deployment of the camera arm and hands-free shutter triggers.
  • YOYO Auto Execution: System-level AI agent handling complex, multi-step tasks across apps.
  • Open Agent Skills Interface: Allows third-party developers to build custom applications using the phone’s gimbal and sensory hardware.

Under the hood, the Robot Phone is built on the Snapdragon® 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, supported by a custom cooling system designed to maintain performance during extended recording sessions.
