EastWest Ageas employees completed more than 12 million steps through the company’s PURPLE Walk Challenge, turning a workplace fitness initiative into community support for over 70 Aeta families in Sitio Tarukan, Tarlac.

The initiative culminated in a community outreach activity that provided more than 100 Aeta children with school supplies, footwear, hygiene essentials, and nutrition supplements, alongside solar lights to help address the community’s needs.

This activity encouraged employees to stay active while supporting a community cause. With a collective 12 million steps, the challenge encouraged employees to contribute to a shared goal. As part of the initiative, EastWest Ageas pledged PHP 1 for every 200 steps recorded, with the proceeds going toward supporting the Aeta community of Sitio Tarukan.

In partnership with GoBetter Sports, a local sports events management agency, more than 30 EastWest Ageas employees participated in the outreach mission to Sitio Tarukan. The group was led by Sjoerd Smeets, President and CEO, and Greg Martin, Chief Distribution and Marketing Officer.

Through the initiative, EastWest Ageas aims to support the community’s access to essential resources, particularly those that can help children pursue their education and work toward a better future.

The activity also reflects the company’s commitment to putting its PURPLE philosophy of Purpose and People into action through initiatives that support Filipino communities.
