McLaren is calling for final orders on the 750S, officially setting the stage to discontinue one of its most celebrated supercar models next year.
The move brings an end to a mid-engine platform whose roots trace back nearly a decade to 2017 with the launch of the 720S. That core architecture—built around a lightweight chassis and a high-output twin-turbocharged V-8—served as the foundation for the track-focused 765LT before culminating in the debut of the 750S as part of the 2024 model year lineup.
To create the 750S, engineers replaced roughly 30 percent of the 720S’s components with newer, lighter parts. The resulting supercar shed 60 pounds to hit a dry weight of 2,815 pounds, while its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 was tuned to deliver 740 horsepower—a 30-horsepower jump over its predecessor.
Before the model steps aside completely, McLaren is giving the platform a high-performance send-off in the form of the ultra-exclusive 788HS, which was revealed earlier this summer.
Key performance specifications and highlights for the final 788HS evolution include:
- Power & Acceleration: Generates 37 additional horsepower over the standard 750S, launching from 0 to 60 mph in 2.0 seconds flat with a top speed of 205 mph.
- Aerodynamics & Weight: Features a more aggressive aerodynamic body kit and cuts another 16 pounds from the vehicle’s total weight.
- Production Run: Strictly limited to 200 total examples globally, split evenly between 100 coupes and 100 open-top spyders.
Order books are currently open for buyers looking to add a 750S to their collection, with base pricing starting at $365,100.
Industry rumors suggest McLaren’s upcoming replacement will be an entirely new supercar powered by a hybrid-assisted V-6 pushing over 800 horsepower, with an official reveal expected as early as next year.
