Manila Central University marked its 121st anniversary with the inauguration of Luningning Hall, a new administration building named after the late Luningning Tanchoco Estanislao, the university’s fifth president and longest-serving official.
The facility reflects MCU’s ongoing campus modernization aimed at improving student experience and operational efficiency.
Located along EDSA in Caloocan, Luningning Hall integrates administrative offices, classrooms, faculty spaces, and communal areas designed for collaboration and accessibility.
The building features eco-efficient lighting and ventilation, open layouts, and sustainable design elements intended to meet contemporary educational standards.
University President Renato C. Tanchoco Jr. described the structure as a symbol of MCU’s progress, combining functional design with heritage-inspired architectural elements to support learning, innovation, and community engagement.
The new facility complements a broader campus masterplan focused on sustainability, student-centered services, and smart infrastructure. Upcoming initiatives include the MCU Country Club, laboratory upgrades, toilet improvement projects, and a modernized Learning Resource Center to support digital learning and research.
Founded in 1904 as the Escuela de Farmacia del Liceo de Manila, MCU has expanded into a comprehensive university offering programs across health sciences, business, education, tourism, and the arts.
Its campus development program, including the Purple Owl Complex and the renovated GPL Building, positions MCU as a forward-looking institution aligned with global standards and sustainable development goals.
Luningning Hall represents a key step in MCU’s strategy to combine heritage, innovation, and student-centered education, reinforcing its role as a regional academic leader.
